Airbus and Mahindra ink H130 fuselage deal, boosting Make in India drive.

In a landmark development for India’s aviation sector, Airbus and Mahindra Aerostructures signed a contract for manufacturing H130 helicopter fuselages. The signing ceremony, chaired by Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu, took place at the Ministry of Civil Aviation and was attended by key industry figures, including Civil Aviation Secretary Vumlunmang Vualnam, Airbus India & South Asia President Remi Maillard, and Mahindra Group CEO Anish Shah.
This strategic collaboration strengthens India’s position in the global aerospace manufacturing arena and reinforces the government’s Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives. The partnership showcases India’s capabilities in delivering world-class aerospace components, with every Airbus aircraft and helicopter now incorporating parts made in India.
Minister Naidu highlighted India’s rapid aviation expansion, projecting over 2,200 new aircraft in the next two decades and annual passenger traffic of 630 million by 2030. He emphasised that India’s aerospace manufacturing market could reach $10 billion in the next 10–15 years.
The agreement also reflects the growing contribution of Indian MSMEs and startups, which supply over $2 billion in components to global aerospace giants annually. The contract is expected to spur domestic manufacturing, enhance MRO capabilities, and create high-skill jobs.
This milestone follows a February 2025 meeting focused on accelerating aircraft component production. With projects like the C295 military aircraft line and upcoming H125 helicopter assembly in India, the nation is poised for significant aerospace growth.
