Air India transported nearly 1,000 tonnes of Indian mangoes globally in April, meeting high seasonal demand with precision.

Air India is making global headlines this mango season, having flown close to 1,000 tonnes of fresh Indian mangoes to Europe, North America, the Middle East, and beyond in April 2025. The surge in perishable exports highlights India’s growing footprint in global fresh produce trade.
The airline’s Head of Cargo, Ramesh Mamidala, noted a rise in demand for perishable movement, with mangoes leading the charge. Air India continues to invest in cold-chain infrastructure, airport process optimisation, and exporter partnerships to ensure seamless delivery of this delicate fruit.
Major mango varieties such as Alphonso, Safeda, and Dussehri are sourced from across India—over 75% from western regions—and transported to 43 destinations in 31 countries. Cities like New York, London, Tokyo, and Sydney are among the key recipients.
Air India ensures freshness through temperature-controlled APEDA-certified facilities, thermal blankets, and cool dollies. The airline views mango exports not just as a cargo operation, but as a celebration of India’s agricultural excellence reaching global tables.
