Delhi’s mobile phone retailers are facing potential disruptions in supply chains and reduced sales in the next 7-10 days due to heightened security measures linked to the G20 Summit. This event is poised to impact the supply chains of various smartphone brands, reliant on factories in Noida and Delhi. Already, retailers in New Delhi have seen a decrease in foot traffic because of increased security measures and the removal of street vendors from local markets.
The All India Mobile Retailers Association, representing 150,000 mobile phone retailers nationwide, advises its members to closely manage inventory levels and capitalise on the situation by promoting and incentivising the sale of both aging and popular products, especially those covered by Minimum Operating Price (MOP) and insurance. While some retailers have reported slower sales recently, they are adjusting their strategies to navigate these challenges.
