Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) sponsored a 2-day conference, ‘PM Gati Shakti Multimodal Waterways Summit 2022’ in Varanasi. Various industry experts and leaders gathered together to discuss the common issues faced by the industry and how the same could be tackled efficiently.
They believe that the project will not only help put an end to the siltation issues of the Ganga, but is also set to become the lifeline for India’s hinterland. The project is aimed at influencing the rural economy by making global markets more accessible to them.
The 2-day summit was quite successful, with discussions around strengthening the infrastructure and chalking out a robust roadmap for the same. The event was graced by representatives from Nepal and Bhutan, along with senior government officials from the GoI.
