FedEx partners with Saksham to provide vocational training scholarships to nearly 100 LGBTQIA+ individuals in India.
FedEx is investing in the future of India’s LGBTQIA+ workforce by offering vocational training scholarships through its collaboration with Saksham humanitarian efforts.
Under the Saksham initiative, eligible LGBTQIA+ individuals are receiving scholarships for vocational training in fields such as beauty, tailoring, dance, makeup, and mehndi art. Beyond technical skills, participants benefit from comprehensive sessions covering personality development, grooming, relationship management, effective communication, stress management, teamwork, and personality enhancement.
Highlighting the impact of inclusive employment practices, a UNDP report notes that businesses fostering gender-inclusive cultures see significant improvements in productivity and product quality by more than 60 percent. Such companies also enhance their reputation, attract talent effectively, and foster creativity and innovation.
Suvendu Choudhury, Vice President India Operations and Customer Experience MEISA at FedEx, emphasised their commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI): “FedEx’s foundation is built on respect for all individuals, and our DEI commitments reflect our core values. Through vocational training and employment opportunities, we aim to promote equity and inclusion, facilitating sustainable livelihoods. Our focus remains on ensuring dignity and respect for everyone.”
Globally, FedEx has been a staunch supporter of LGBTQ+ causes since 2005, having donated nearly USD 2 million to various initiatives aimed at promoting LGBTQ+ rights and empowerment worldwide.
