Oman Air has commenced its first-ever freighter service linking Muscat International Airport and GMR Hyderabad International Airport in India. The service, facilitated by the recently delivered 737-800 Boeing Converted Freighter (BCF), operates two weekly flights on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
With a one-way capacity of 22 metric tons, the 737-800BCF enhances the weekly inbound and outbound cargo capacity at Hyderabad Airport by 88 metric tons. Hyderabad Airport anticipates a boost in pharmaceutical and hatching eggs exports with Oman Air’s new freighter route.
As Oman is a significant importer of hatching eggs from India, the service is expected to facilitate increased exports leveraging Hyderabad’s substantial hatchery infrastructure.
Additionally, the connectivity is poised to enhance pharmaceutical exports to Oman, the US, and Europe, utilising Muscat as a transshipment hub. The Middle East’s demand for fruits and vegetables is also anticipated to benefit from this freighter service. The 737-800BCF marks Oman Air’s inaugural dedicated cargo aircraft, contributing to the airline’s ongoing capacity growth.
