Prism Logistics, a project cargo transport specialist, has successfully completed one of India’s most extensive long-distance multimodal transportation projects. The project involved the haulage of 34 super-heavy cargo units for the upcoming Barmer refinery in Rajasthan. These cargo units, weighing up to 743 metric tons, had lengths of up to 55 meters and diameters of 9.7 meters. The logistics contract is estimated to be worth over Rs100 crore. The transportation included moving the cargo from Mangalore, Hazira, and Dahej to Mundra Port in Gujarat, and subsequently to the project site in Pachpadra, Rajasthan.
This multimodal movement spanned close to a year, and it came with significant challenges and high stakes, as the end customer, HPCL Rajasthan Refinery (HRRL), is associated with one of India’s largest state-run oil companies, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (HPCL). The successful execution was crucial for setting up a mega oil refinery in Rajasthan, the country’s first greenfield refinery in over two decades.
