32 airports in northern and western India resume civil aircraft operations, effective immediately. The closure, due to heightened India-Pakistan tensions following Operation Sindoor, has been lifted.

The temporary closure of 32 airports for civil aircraft operations has been lifted, with the airports now open with immediate effect. This announcement comes after a ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan. The airports were initially closed on May 7th, 2025, due to heightened tensions and military activity following India’s Operation Sindoor, which targeted terror camps in Pakistan in response to the April 22nd attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. The initial closure was until May 10th and then extended until May 15th. Travellers are advised to check flight status directly with their airlines and monitor airline websites for the latest updates.
