The “Special campaign for the disposal of pending issues” (SCDPM 2.0) of the Government of India has led to a number of efforts by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways (MoPSW). The focus areas that MoPSW has chosen include eliminating pending work and enhancing cleanliness, which will lead to better record management, increased productivity, increased transparency, and a contribution to a sustainable future.
The SCDPM 2.0 guidelines advise that in addition to the Ministries/Departments and their attached/subordinate offices, the field/outstation offices should receive all of the specific attention. The Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways are making numerous attempts to eliminate clutter and promote cleanliness in all of its major ports and attached/subordinate offices. The SCPDM 2.0 Special Campaign Portal is updated frequently with information about the goals established and the progress made. Under the Swachh Bharat 2.0 campaign, every major port and attached MoPSW office undertook numerous projects.
The Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA), “Uplift India Association,” and their partner organisation Humsafer Foundation, are aiming to improve the lives of truck drivers by providing them with free health insurance and safe driving technology. By December 2022, the aforementioned program would benefit around 10,000 truck drivers.

By using vermiculture technology to transform rubbish into high-quality manure, the New Mangalore Port Authority (NMPA) has adapted to handle garbage production on its own. Sales of the excess composted manure would bring in money. The Port Authority has chosen to use vermiculture technology to transform rubbish into high-quality manure as part of its self-management strategy.
- Earlier, the port was disposing of the garbage in the municipal designated location, spending ₹3000/- per day.
- By adopting vermiculture technology with a CAPEX of ₹50 lakh, the port would be generating a revenue of ₹4.50 lakh per annum.
- The manure generated is 1.5 tons per month, which would be used for the plantation and gardening work in the port area. This would save NMPA purchasing of manure from the market.
- The surplus compost manure would be sold and revenue would be generated.
