Trichy International Airport is on the brink of unveiling its new terminal, as confirmed by Industries Minister T R B Rajaa during a recent inspection accompanied by School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi and District Collector M Pradeep Kumar.
With the current airport serving 1.5 million passengers, the upgraded terminal, equipped with 60 counters, aims to handle 4.5 million passengers. Notably, 10 international and four domestic flights already operate from the airport, with plans to increase these services.
Addressing concerns about land acquisition for runway expansion, Minister Rajaa assured a smooth process, citing Tamil Nadu’s growth attracting foreign investment. Additionally, discussions with Air Force authorities are underway to initiate passenger flights from Thanjavur, promising further connectivity for the region.
